The Princess Margaret (PM) Cancer Care Network has awarded the 2026 PM Cancer Care Network Collaboration Grant to two outstanding projects that exemplify innovation, collaboration, and impact across the Network. This annual initiative supports high‑impact partnerships that strengthen cancer care, research, and system learning among Network sites. This year’s funded projects reflect strong, meaningful collaboration with Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and align closely with priority areas for the Network—particularly expanding access to clinical trials and improving the management of complex cancer care. Both projects demonstrate strong potential for scalability and broader impact across Network partner sites.
Saskatchewan Cancer Agency – DiCaN‑EDU: Diabetes–Cancer Education and Screening Program
Led by the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency in partnership with Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, the DiCaN‑EDU (Diabetes–Cancer Education and Screening) program aims to improve the safe management of patients with diabetes receiving systemic cancer therapy. The project will implement standardized HbA1c screening prior to treatment, alongside co‑developed patient education resources including written materials, a short instructional video, and a diabetes monitoring diary. The study also includes the development of an oncology‑focused clinician education module and a pilot implementation with evaluation. Together, these deliverables will generate scalable tools and practical insights to support safer, more coordinated cancer care for patients with diabetes across the PM Cancer Care Network.
Oak Valley Health – Community‑Based Clinical Trials Navigator Pilot
Led by Oak Valley Health, in collaboration with Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Windsor Regional Cancer Centre, and Southlake Regional Cancer Centre, this project will pilot a community‑based Clinical Trials Navigator embedded within a community oncology practice. The navigator will be integrated with Princess Margaret’s clinical trials portfolio and the established Windsor Clinical Trials Navigator program infrastructure. Key deliverables include standardized trial navigation workflows, improved referral and enrollment into PM‑supported clinical trials, and the collection of patient‑reported outcomes related to quality of life and decisional confidence. The project will also generate rigorous feasibility and implementation data to support potential scale‑up across the PM Cancer Care Network.
The PM Cancer Care Network is proud to support both initiatives and looks forward to advancing collaborative partnerships that strengthen cancer care, equity, and innovation across the Network.
